How can we help you

The Windsor Police Association is a proud member of the Police Association of Ontario, as well as the Canadian Police Association. Through our affiliation with these provincial and national organizations, the WPA can be active in law and order issues, not only within our City, but also across the country.  While police associations strive to ensure our members are fairly represented, we also understand the importance of safe communities for all families. The WPA is proud to be part of initiatives, both with the PAO and CPA, which encourages the government to provide safe neighbourhoods for all Canadians.

Representation for All Members

The Police Services Act of Ontario specifically defines an Association in Section 2 as follows: “means an Association whose members belong to one police force and whose objects include the improvement of their working conditions and remuneration”.

The Windsor Police Services Board recognizes the Windsor Police Association as the sole collective bargaining agent for the members of the Police Service.

The Collective Agreement between the Windsor Police Association and the Windsor Police Services Board further states that the Board agrees that no member will be dealt with adversely without just cause, and it will exercise the functions to maintain order, discipline, and efficiency; hire, direct, classify, transfer, deploy, promote, layoff any employee and to suspend or otherwise discipline and discharge any employee for just cause;  and the Association further recognizes the right of the Board to operate and manage its business in all respects in accordance with his responsibilities; without discrimination in a manner consistent with this Agreement, the Police Services Act and the Regulations made thereunder by the Lieutenant Governor in Council.

The Windsor Police Association is proud that 100% of the members of the Windsor Police Service are also members of the WPA. Registration is available to all members of the Windsor Police Service with the exception of the Chief and Deputy Chiefs.
